Starring Will Smith, Charlize Theron, and Jason Bateman, this Peter Berg film is anything but extraordinary. Movie trailers, advertisements, and the "buzz" about Hancock has been building for sometime. But though all the high expectations, Hancock fails to deliver anything other than an hour and a half of cheesy, simple, and cliche entertainment.
The film begins quite humorously, and aspires to be a fun, family friendly superhero film about one hero redeeming himself. Unfortunately, around the middle of the movie, the plot suddenly shifts from this thread and turns into a movie only slightly better than Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Hancock was only marginally better than the infamous Spider-man 3 film, which had one of the most grotesque endings and flimsy storyline overpopulated by villains and subplots of all time.
If the writers had actually written a script worth the paper it was written on, then this movie might have lived up to expectations. But overall this film was a disappointment.
